The Simple Table

Simple. Not boring

When you take the training wheels off off a child’s bicycle, it’s to be expected that the child will fall a couple of times before really getting the hang of cycling without stabilisers.

This table is my first fall. I wanted to design a very simple table, but not a boring one. I included a number of details to try and achieve this brief, like the light taper to the legs, the gentle curve where the legs meet the top, and the ‘floating’ top. In the end though, I don’t feel it quite achieves what I wanted it to.

None-the-less, it is here on display here because it was the first time that there was an intention beyond ‘looking good’ behind my design process, and this is a milestone worth marking.
